> What is Gimbal Lock?
Gimbal Lock is a very annoying side effect of the way LightWave does its=20
rotations. Gimbal Lock is taken from an effect that happens with=20
gyroscopes. If you rotate the Pitch 90=F8, the Heading an Bank have the=20
same effect. If you rotate ANY axis 90=F8, the othere two axis (axi?)=20
rotate that wame way.
The current work around is to add a NullObject and parent it between the=20
object you want to rotate and it's parent. So, if you have an upper arm=20
and body, you would ad a NullObject and parent the arm to the Null, and=20
the Null to the Body. Now, you only rotate the Null on the Pitch and the=
=20
Arm on Heading and Bank.
This works, but is bothersome. A simple evasion of Gimbal Lock in the=20
first place would be the easiers way to got, but, hey, lots of the cool=20
stuff in LW is just a big work-around.=20
Hope this helps...
